Military Financing
As a Military-Veteran student you have many resources available to you to finance your degree. In addition, Bellevue University works hard to give you credit for courses already taken, and credit for training and military experience, too. See Military Credit Transfer information for how you can receive the credit you deserve.
Follow these steps prior to enrollment if you plan to apply for Military Tuition Assistance and or Veteran Education Benefits:
- Veterans Education Benefits
- Apply for VA Benefits at: VA education and training benefits.
- Enroll in Bellevue University's Degree Programs and Certificate Programs* of study approved for Veterans Education Benefits. Bellevue University's Degree Programs and Certificate Programs.
- Submit a Veterans Education Form.
- Submit a VA Certificate of Eligibility
*Please note that Certificates of Completion are not eligible for Veterans Education Benefits at this time unless a student is degree-seeking and the Certificate of Completion is either required as part of an approved degree program or considered a qualifying prerequisite or elective component of an approved degree program.
Bellevue University requires all students who plan to utilize Veterans Education Benefits** to submit a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) or Award Letter to [email protected] prior to the start of term and annually thereafter. Bellevue University will require a current COE or Award Letter annually upon expiration of the first submission.
** This requirement does not apply to Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E).

Military Tuition Assistance (MTA) - Military members who plan use MTA to fund their program must visit their installation Education Office and speak with an Education Services Officer (ESO) prior to enrollment and apply through the appropriate service portal.
For example:- Army members should use ArmyIgnitED
- Air Force and Space Force should use the AI Portal
- Navy and Marines should visit the Navy College Portal
- Coast Guard members should reach out to their Education Services Officer.

Public Law 115 - 407 - Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018, Section 103:
For any students using VA Chapter 33 (Post 9/11) or Chapter 31 (Vocational Readiness & Employment) Education Benefits*, payment to the institution is pending from the VA (up to 90 days), the school will not:
- Prevent their enrollment.
- Assess a late penalty fee.
- Require they secure alternative or additional funding.
- Deny their access to any resources (access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities) available to other students who have satisfied their tuition and fee bills to the institution.
To qualify for this provision, such students are required to:
- Produce a VA Certificate of Eligibility or a VA Statement of Benefits by the first day of class.
- Provide the school a request to be certified. Bellevue University Veteran Education Form, VEF
- Provide any additional information needed to properly certify the enrollment as described in the school’s institutional policies.
*This restriction does not apply in cases where the student owes additional payment to Bellevue University beyond the amount of the tuition and fee payment from the VA.
Bellevue University, a private non-profit institution, does not have separate tuition rates for in-state or out-of-state students. Tuition rates applicable to all students, regardless of state of residency, can be accessed online at: https://www.bellevue.edu/admissions-tuition/tuition-fees/tuition-and-fees.
Section 1018 of Public Law 116-315, Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans’ Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020:
- Bellevue University provides a personalized College Financing Plan for every new student eligible for Veterans Education Benefits prior to enrollment in classes in compliance with Section 1018 of Public Law 116-315, Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D. Veterans’ Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020.
- Updated College Financing Plans are provided to continuing students 15 days after publishing tuition rates for each new fiscal year. Students may request an updated College Financing Plan from Bellevue University through their Student Coach at any time to incorporate new or updated information.
- Bellevue University maintains policies that informs students eligible for Veterans Education Benefits of the availability of federal financial aid, not administered by VA that is offered by the institution.
- Bellevue University informs students eligible for Veterans Education Benefits of the potential eligibility for other federal financial aid before packaging or arranging student loans or alternative financing.
- Bellevue University prohibits automatic renewal in a course and/or programs for students eligible for Veterans Education Benefits.
- Bellevue University ensures each student eligible for Veterans Education Benefits approves of the enrollment in a course.
- Bellevue University allows enrolled members of the Armed Forces, including reserve components and National Guard to be readmitted if such members are temporarily unavailable or must suspend enrollment by reason of serving in the Armed Forces.
- Bellevue University accommodates short absences for such services in the Armed Forces.
- Bellevue University provides covered individuals the requirements for graduation and a graduation timeline.
- Bellevue University, as an accredited educational institution, obtains approval of the respective accrediting agency for each new course or program.
- Bellevue University assigns a designated employee of the educational institution to serve as a point of contact for student eligible for Veterans Education Benefits and family members seeking assistance with: Academic Counseling, Financial Counseling, Disability Counseling, other information regarding completing a course of education at the education institution.
Other financing options
- Title IV Federal Financial Aid - Determine if you are eligible for grants, or other federal funding.
- Scholarships The Wounded Warriors Scholarship is available from Bellevue University, among many other types of scholarships.
